Retailers and financial institutions all have other challenges that require additional measures, sometimes integrated with alarm systems. The most serious type of offences, where you or your employees may be the victim of an armed robbery or worse, will hopefully never occur. However if it does, a preventative evaluation beforehand, may be enough to ensure the best recording configuration possible was used, and will assist the authorities with evidence referred to as, “the silent witness”. A setup mistake that is commonly made, results from the belief that a single camera placement to record employee theft will also be adequate to cover a robbery suspect. This is not the case, and camera placement for the two should not be confused. This normally requires a second camera placement, or at least a re-evaluation of the first. Business owners can normally trust their security company to be knowledgeable on their CCTV product, but we repeatedly see improperly setup configurations and/or unreliable systems installed. We hope to be able to alleviate this. Some business owners' take a cost-saving “do-it-yourself” approach.
